Answering Humanist's Accusations Against the Bible
Even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man. - Romans 1:21-23
This page is an introduction to our answers to the more than 180 accusations against the Bible on the American Humanist's (atheist's) web site as of January 2018. A complete table of contents is available (click here). A scripture index (click here) is also available. Our answers to the humanists come from the first draft of a book written by one of our pastors called Did God Really Say?. This 400 page book is available on Amazon. Free electronic versions are available on our web site as both a PDF file and Kindle (MOBI) file. [Click here]
The following is the reason humanists give. This is quoted directly from the American Humanist's web site, as it was in January 2018:
"The Bible is an unreliable authority because it contains numerous contradictions. Logically, if two statements are contradictory, at least one of them is false. The biblical contradictions therefore prove that the book has many false statements and is not infallible."
As you read our responses to the humanist's accusations, you'll find that most of the accusations and supposed contradictions are flimsy and contrived. They are easily answered. It becomes obvious that there are no good reasons to reject the Bible. The facts are that, throughout history every objection, contradiction and question has been answered hundreds of times... and in many cases they were answered well over a 1000 years ago. But many atheists refuse to even consider that their questions have been answered, and continually bring up the same old supposed "contradictions" over and over.
It is clear that the issue is not one of demonstrating the Bible is reliable. That's been done many times. The issue is a heart issue.
Those who reject the Bible are not doing so for any rational reason. They simply do so because they don't want it to be true. They don't want to be accountable to God. The humanist web page we're looking at isn't there to convince others the Bible isn't reliable, but to give comfort to atheists who don't want anyone to disturb their delusion. As scripture says, they are willingly blind, so they don't even question the flimsy asccusations and unsubstantiated claims on the web page we are examining.
The Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. - John 3:19

If humanists (atheists) wanted to truly demonstrate there are contradictions in the Bible, they would state the contradiction, and then give the Biblical response that refutes it (not strawman responses), and then refute that response -- if they could (they can't). But, I've never seen that type of a scholarly, sound approach to discussing the Bible. Humanists seem to like to do "hit and run," such as the web page we'll be looking at, often without even fully explaining their supposed contradictions.
Here is a link to the web page we'll be examining. We looked at the humanist web page during December 2017, and the following responses are based on their web page as it was at that time.
To show that the contradictions, objections, and questions humanists have raised about the Bible are non-existent or have been answered, I will answer every accusation and claim from the article"Some Reasons Why Humanists Reject The Bible" on the American Humanist web site. I have to admit that I find this to be fun. It demonstrates how wonderful it is to be a Christian... and that we have the answers. Not only to objections raised by humanists, but to life's greatest problems. Jesus Christ is THE answer.
We answer all of the humanists accusations, in the order they are presented on the humanist web page attacking the Bible.
You will exist forever. The question is, where? Disobeying God is the road to death, and we have all disobeyed God:
For all have sinned [disobeyed God] and fall short of the glory of God. - Romans 3:23
The consequence of sin is death. You will exist experiencing death forever.
For the wages of sin is death... - Romans 6:23a
But there is GOOD News! You can have life!
...but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23b
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8
Instead of our experiencing death forever, Christ died in our place. Repent (turn away from disobeying God), believe this, trusting that Jesus truly did die in your place.
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. - Romans 5:1
